Coming to a halt
all with scant awareness
as, “Scary really scary!”
still lying in hospice beds
lacking heartfelt candor
ephemeral and varied
gown clad wearing glaring
allergy wristbands
staring at hard-scrabble
surgical masks
conjuring eye-candy fantasies
with fanciful abandon
while alarmingly declaring,
“Last chance!” ...
