punishments upended
streaking archnemisis
emergency exits
heated rhetoric
tepid little else
facing unrest
with lethal force expected
in response to silent dissent  
wearing matching jingle jammies
hearing hourly pinging apps
handing out mesh bags filled with dashes
of instant gratification like “Nutcracker” fans
coveting cabaret rock and jazz all for a few laughs
while squirming shrieking and giggling
bringing hands to chins
oohing and aahing in recognition
of the fiercely disciplined sweaty trysts
through inky nighttime rituals
of grim visual fissures rattling prisons
gazing inwardly with quasi-religious ferocity
as thousands of ballots vanish
skewed by wild dancing
like apocalyptic contingency plans
seized by panic attacks
beneath soaring cathedral ceilings
replete with subconscious delirium...
