after twisting an ankle and feeling harried
in search of someone who matters
looking garish doing stand-up
stretching out double vowels
like pulled taffy with prowess
smoothed by magical wooden dowels
during hours-upon-hours of smiling back
from a rarified tangle of romance
in the heart of “Screenland”
removing masks at long last
minus back stabbers
traveling meandering paths
in checkered cabs frittering away cash
having been bruised by marriage
left in a bramble of extended family
seeking seasonal cheer in shallow seas
while tying bowlines to trees
as swimming endangered lizards
watch intently from snow-white beaches
white caps crash backwater shadows flash
unguided packages blue channels
