“Lacking Color”

Lacking color
feeling stunned
at the peril
of our republic
as all-of-a-sudden
disgruntlement
black smoke billowing up
like clouds of corruption
leading to the obstruction
of justice becoming
more-and-more difficult
to stomach perilously compulsive
and totally self-destructive
baring teeth eyes bulging
chomping on Double Bubble Gum
wads looking like slugs of mistrust
young adults’ rugs pulled out from under
by drug-running thugs living on the cusp
of violent gang studies
looking thin and hard-bitten
deformed stick figures
of the underprivileged having been
devastated by forbidding
apocalyptic visions
ink-squirting giant squids ...
